Circus is back in town
SEE a death defying high-wire walker, Australia’s only ‘man in the bottle’, hand balancer extraordinaire, acrobats, jugglers and a variety of animals when Circus Royale stops in Raymond Terrace this week.
Performances were conducted from September 9-13 at the Adelaide Street sporting fields in Raymond Terrace, followed by September 16-27 at Speers Point’s Speers Point Park.
Boasting circus superstars from here and overseas, Circus Royale is owned by Damian Syred after it was created by the internationally renowned Gasser family 38 years ago.
“This is real circus, the way we remember it from our childhood,” said Damian.
“It’s big, its exciting, its funny and its wonderfully traditional family entertainment. We do circus the old way with six animal acts, featuring camels, llamas, geese, horses, a dog and four black and white cows that have to be seen to believed.”
A million-dollar big top tent with every seat within 12 metres of the ring means circus-goers clearly see performers faces, feel the energy and closely interact with the animals.
“The smaller children will love the variety of animals, the grown ups will be taken away by the amazing skills of these world class artists.” The company of 35, includes children who live and learn in the circus traditions.
“We’re bringing a wonderful show, full of modern family entertainment. It’s sophisticated, upbeat and spectacular, with gifted performers from nine countries: Czech Republic, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Switzerland, Scotland, New Zealand and Australia.
“And we well exceed the requirements of the RSPCA and the National Standards for the Care and Management of Circus Animals.”
